Crime in Miechowice

So much for liberation.

75 years ago the Red Army committed a mass crime in Miechowice. Within 4 days the Soviets killed 380 Germans, Silesians and Poles. In January 1945, they treated the town with hostility because it was German before World War II. They had no restraints in killing defenseless people.

The massacre in Miechowice peaked on this day 75 years ago. The Soviets killed men, teenage boys and the elderly. One of the 1st victims was Fr Jan Frenzel who was caught while tending to worshippers. Tortured and humiliated, he was murdered in the woods of Stolarzowice.
