When reviewing history it’s important to be impartial and objective. Too often we hear criticism of the Polish that is not factual. The Polish are condemned for crimes they didn’t commit and that revisionism of history should addressed as to keep the truth alive for them and for posterity.
As for collaboration, you will find that the estimate from the Israeli war commission places it at .1 percent which is negligible. The majority of the Polish did not collaborate and the ones that did faced the death penalty from their own people (that includes betrayal of Jews).
As for what comes from some of the media, Israeli leaders, and news outlets is inaccurate. Despite Jewish collaboration and sympathy for Poland’s enemy, the Soviets, Poles compared to any other country was at the forefront of aiding Jews.
Only in Poland would someone and their whole family receive the death penalty makes it obvious of the German knowledge of Polish aid and sympathy. Whole villages were destroyed for hiding Jews, yet incredibly the Polish defied German law to save others at the expense of their own lives.
That is truly a part of World War ll history that should be honored and memorialized – there were no others like the Polish. Yad Vashem recognizes only six thousand Poles for saving Jews. That number is minimal compared to what we know that estimates that possibly up to 200,000 Poles saved Jews.
That should tell you something about how little Polish heroism is treated and remembered. There is much to be written and learned about Poland, but amidst heated politics deception is clearly evident. Digging deeper into the Polish history would enlighten more people about what really happened instead of the current historical revisionism.
